Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Found this while clearing out some very, very old emails. Still LOVE it.
It's a speech often attributed to NELSON MANDELA.

ReplyDeleteOh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don't know
Where I've been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Colorado
Made me think of you and thought this would be a good inspiration source. :')
Thanks, Grace. I hope your writing is going well. I know you will enjoy the break from school. Perhaps you could work on some math problems?? :) Or rather, how about your writing the movie the will make you famous one day (i.e. "oh, yes, I wrote that [classic] movie way back when I was 12yrs old") You've read big books, Ms. Glamourpuss, I know you can do it. Remember that our potential will always amaze us. Give yourself a chance to shine. Dream big. Dream big. Always, ALWAYS dream big. Be forgiving of the people around you, they are doing the best they know how. Even our parents. Be gracious. Live boldly.
ReplyDeleteYou are loved.
